| My likeness with the Blackwood Farm cameo as a pendant, NightCafe |
If you have read Blackwood Farm, you might recall the fascinating
character that is Quinn's beloved Aunt Queen.
Who, by the way and not shockingly, has a connection to the Mayfair Witches
through--wait for it--Julien Mayfair.
Those descriptions of the scenic shell cameos Aunt Queen collected have
fascinated me ever since I read Blackwood Farm for the first
time. I have a deep love of miniatures and the idea of such detailed
scenes being depicted in shell as almost a tiny portrait is something I've
wanted to see more of. The descriptions of these cameos also having
carved images in different materials--like gemstones--fascinated me even more.
Do such cameos exist in real life? Yes. But it's taken me a long
time to really find cameos like them. So, I decided that if my NightCafe
two-headed cameo creations (that are a randomly occurring hallucination
disaster I find entertaining every time it happens) can make me wonder if
cameos like that were ever created in real life, why not see what this
technology thinks scenic cameos like Aunt Queen's would look like?
On that note, let's start with...Medusa.
This cameo was one of the first I managed to get NightCafe to generate.
That was over a year ago, and it is one of the cameos that glows...but of
Medusa...
The page of my website that talks about some aspects of Blackwood Farm and
Blood Canticle with focus on Quinn Blackwood and Mona Mayfair dates back to
the early years of my website and was migrated to the Parlor's new home on
Google Sites. There are some images I finally managed to find of some
unique cameos. They are fascinating pieces of jewelry/portraiture.
